Thought for a Sunday - 18 October 2009

Hi Everyone.  Hope your Sunday is going well and the past week has been good for you.  I'm looking out at a heavily clouded sky with a cold wind - feels like winter has arrived a little early.   At least it stopped raining - have not seen the sun since Tuesday and I'm feeling like a mushroom.  I did hear the sun and warmth will be returning for this area around Tuesday/Wednesday.   I find it hard to believe last weekend I was walking around in capris and eating at outdoor cafes and this week I'm wearing sweats for warmth and yesterday afternoon I caved and turned the heat on.

Let me say THANK YOU to those of you that have subscribed to the website/blog.  I am very appreciate realizing that there are lots of activities that fill up your day and you want to take a few minutes to read my thoughts.  I am grateful for the every growing circle of friends and acquaintances that are joining me and encouraging me on my journey.

I had a weird week (let's blame the weather) emotionally - up and down - there was one day I could have cried at the drop of a hat.  Another day I was irritated, hot and tired.  None of the above are a good combination for me as I end up exhausted.    How about you?

I had a couple of encounters with the word and emotion of Passion.  It has been so high profile in my life this past week, I looked it up today in the dictionary to see if it was really what was popping in my life.   For your information:  PASSION means:
1. A powerful emotion, such as love, joy, hatred, or anger;  2. a. Ardent love. b. Strong sexual desire; lust; c. The object of such love or desire.;  3.  a. Boundless enthusiasm: His skills as a player don't quite match his passion for the game.  b. The object of such enthusiasm: Soccer is her passion.

For me it began with a training class I was attending for work.  One of the attendees made an uninformed remark and you could feel the room fill with sparks.  The facilitator immediately turned to me because I have lots of the knowledge on the subject and I went off like a rocket.  I kept it professional, but I remember at one point saying to all; "I'm really sorry for the way I'm jumping in here, but I am extremely passionate about the subject."  The other attendees all agreed with me, but my thoughts turned internal and I thought to myself - since when do you use the word passionate in talking about work?

The second time it happened this week, I was thunderstruck as a dear friend and client in my other business said to me; "you have a blog and website now.  I can see that coaching is really your passion.  So for this reason, I am going to help you back slowly away from your other business (since I got you into it) and help you focus on coaching."  Wow, I thought she notices my passion and here is that word again.

The third time I was at the gym waiting for class and on the table was a wall calendar.  As the calendar was folded I picked it up to see the picture.  Imagine my surprise when it was the word passion in big bold letters.  I remember thinking here it is again - wow something is really percolating guess I better be open for what is coming!!   I have a feeling coaching is going to become much more present in my life.   After reading the description above I can honestly say I experienced 1 and 3 lots this past week.

Has something like is ever happened to you?  Where something is sort of smacking you in the head?  What have you done?  Any stories you care to share?

My friend in Boston is doing well.  She had surgery at the beginning of the week to repair the catheter she has for dialysis and moved to a different rehab center yesterday.  When I spoke to her on Friday it was like talking to a person on the road to recovery.   She sounded alert and coherent for the first time in weeks.  Thanks for your prayers - she says thank you as well.

I have been reading "Body + Soul" magazine for a few months.  It was a magazine ordered to support one of the schools.  Any way, although I normally don't buy anything with Martha Stewart's name attached (just a personal thing); I really like this magazine.  Lots of interesting articles about health; healing; natural foods; recipes; etc.   I like it also because the articles are novels and they are done in a page or two without searching the end of the magazine for the rest of the story.   If you have had a chance to read it, let me know what you think.

I had a massage today so I'm feeling very relaxed right now.  I have a candle burning and music playing for a nice atmosphere.  I like to create an atmosphere when I'm preparing my thoughts.  I try to have a calm mind as sometimes during the week I'll think I should write about this or that and the thoughts tumble around.  On Sunday itself is when I look back over the week and really put this together.    I hope you create an atmosphere for yourself at least once a week if you can't manage during the week - I know life is crazy.

I hope you have a wonderful week.  Hope to hear from you.  Marie
