Thought for a Sunday - 4 October 2009
I can't believe I am sitting here writing my Thought for a Sunday in the form of a blog. My website was a dream/thought in the back of my mind for about three years and then suddenly I have a blog. I guess this means I'm using the technology whether I want to or not - you still won't find me on Facebook or Twitter yet. I was giggling like a schoolgirl the other evening when the website came up. I am so excited to write today and thought about this most of the week - don't worry I won't go on too long today. As always, I hope to make you think as I discuss the thoughts running around in my head.
THANK YOU SO MUCH TO: Lori Peterson who designed almost all of what you see. Also Patty Schuchman for the wonderful photograph.

I am sitting today at the window looking out at a gorgeous day. The wind is blowing and the sky is clear blue. We finished decorating our yard and house today for Halloween. I love the colors of fall. I noticed as I walked earlier how green many lawns are looking now that it has cooled down a bit and we've had some rain.
My overall week went well. Little bit of stress and tension at work as there are some changes happening. I am trying to keep a positive perspective and help others deal with some of the changes. I keep saying we'll get through and look at all we are learning. As I have said previously, I sometimes can deal with changes better when I look at them as learning experiences and put the energy out there that this is a positive step. Do you have any tips?
I was able to get most of my walking in this past week. I even got up early when I could have slept in as I wanted to get the walking done or I would not have time later in the day (now that's different for me). Although I have not noticed many changes to the body I do find my mind opening to different possibilities as I walk. Do you notice anything when you exercise or enjoy movement?
I went to an engagement party yesterday. It was wonderful to see the couple and the families. It was a wonderful afternoon as quite a few of the future bride's family gathered on the screened-in porch to enjoy the day and catch up with each other. I have known at least the future bride's family for years and they always make me feel as if I'm part of the family. They are wonderful people to be around. We laughed and of course ate lots of good food. I had my first fried turkey and I must say it was delicious. I drove home last evening with the bright full moon - I think it's called the harvest moon because it is so bright. It was beautiful and soothing at the same time.
I was thinking about friendships today as I realized I forgot to call my friend in Boston that is so sick. I will definitely call tomorrow as she does not always have many visitors when everyone has to work. I thought what kind of friend am I? She has been in my life forever and I would not want to have her think I forgot about her. I realize friendships change and ours has over the years, but we do keep in touch and always make time to see each other when I'm in town. I think if I still lived there we would definitely still see each other fairly often or at least talk often. Although she is married she told me once she never forgot the importance of friends. She wanted to be able to have people in her life that she could lean on, hang with or just talk to other than her hubby. I think it's important to find the right balance. What about you? Do you make time for friends? Do your friends make time for you?
I think I will close the first posting here. I hope you have a great week. Marie

Marie, I'm so proud of you...congratulations~ What a fun weekend you must have had. My beading girlfriend and I had a 2-day craft show this past weekend, didn't do as well as we'd have liked, but made a little profit, met new people, and had fun being together (okay, and eating the great Italian food that was being served)! This coming weekend, we have another craft show, this one will be indoors so we don't have to worry about the humidity, rain, and winds. I'm busy making our Halloween costumes..this year's theme is cartoon characters, and we're going as Happy Feet penguins...pray for a very chilly night as I'm working with fleece! Our book club just read The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, and we'll discuss it next week...it'll be interesting to see the mixed reviews. I'm trying to get the ladies to read something inspirational, but to no avail so far...and don't think I'll stop trying! Again, many hugs and best wishes to you always....Sharon
