Thought for a Sunday - September 30, 2009

Hope all is well with you this Sunday. As I sit here the sky is clearing and it might be decent outside this afternoon.  I will be heading out for a walk when I finish composing and paying some bills.

I worked hard this past week because of schedules to accomplish my goal of movement or exercise every day.  Having set the intention and goal seem to be working for me as I want to note the accomplishment at the end of the day.   Have you set any new goals or intentions?

I met one of my goals this past week by consciously jotting down at the end of the day something good that happened.  It was nice at the end of the day to think of the positive and not dwell in the negative.  I found it more relaxing.   How do you finish off your day?  On a positive note I hope.

I had a discussion this past week about a book (The Shack) I mentioned previously.  It was interesting that the person did not like the book at all (indicated she threw it across the room) and even compare done part to the movie ‘The Matrix’ which I have never seen.  It was an interesting discussion and we both thought how in the future this might be something for the blog that will be available on my website.  I truly enjoy hearing from others and if their opinions are different it’s ok, as I try to keep an open mind and remember we come from different backgrounds, cultures, places, etc.   How do you handle differing opinions?  Do you feel confident enough to express your opinion?

I attended a networking event the other evening and one of the women indicated she is part of a book club.  I found it interesting because she said she does not always read the book recommended if it does not interest her, but she attends the club because she enjoys the people and the discussions.  Do you have things in your life like this?

I must mention the high tea I attended at the Ritz – all I can say is WOW!! What an experience!! I will have to treat my niece and sister to the experience in the future.  It is expensive, but as expected the service and atmosphere were exceptional.  I broadened my circle as I had tea with nine very interesting women;none of whom I had met previously – a very pleasant way to spend a few hours.   We are all members of an online networking group called Divas After Dark (www.divasafterdark.com– connections for friendship and biz). It was nice to put faces to the names I see on the website.

I did not have time for much reading this past week as there were some issues at my regular job.  It always surprises me how somethings get blown out of proportion instead of focusing on how the issue can be fixed.   Even after all of these years of working I am amazed.    The politics of bureaucracies just drives me crazy, but then I take a step back and just get the problem fixed.

I’m getting more excited every day – the website will be up and running next week.  When I write, I’ll send a link to all of you.   Over the next few weeks my Thought for a Sunday will be transitioned to a blog on the website.  As I told my best friend, even thinking about the changes gets me a little shaky inside.

I better get moving here so I can head out for my walk. I hope you have a great week. Take care.  Chat soon.  Marie

Hi, Marie. Congrats on getting your blog and website up and running! I'll look forward to lots of conversation with your other readers. "Divas After Dark" sounds like an interesting group. Association with them seems like a great way to expand your network. I'm going to log in to their site and see what's what!
